Low-income families and individuals often do not receive the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or other tax refunds for which they may be eligible because they are simply unaware of them or have difficulty filling out the necessary paperwork. At our income tax preparation clinics, volunteer tax preparers help local citizens claim the EITC and other refunds as well as guide them through the rest of the tax filing process. The clinics are open on a walk-in basis (no appointment necessary).
What participants should bring:
● Social security card or ITIN letter
● Copies of W-2 form(s)
● 2005 Income Tax Return
● Any Additional Tax-related Documents
Between February 9 and April 12, 2007, there will be two clinics per week:
Fridays, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm . Friday clinics will be held at the ECDC Enterprise Development Group Office in Arlington at 901 S. Highland Street, third floor. Click here for directions.
Saturdays, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm . Saturday clinics will be held at the Arlington Mill Community Center in Arlington at 4975 Columbia Pike. Call us for directions.
Schedule C Preparation Seminars
We also offer seminars which coach participants on filling out the IRS Tax Return Form 1040 Schedule C, a form required of all self-employed and sole-proprietor entrepreneurs. By completing the Schedule C correctly, start-up businesses can receive substantial tax savings, whereas not filing, or filing incorrectly, can result in costly IRS penalties and fees. These workshops teach entrepreneurs the ins and outs of tax filing including major deductions, selecting the right preparer and tricks to help them even more for next year’s return. Qualified attendees will also receive a $30 discount from selected professional tax preparers.
Upcoming Seminars:
Thursday, February 22, 2007: 9:30 am – 11:30 am
Saturday, March 10, 2007: 9:30 am – 11:30 am (in Spanish only)
Thursday, March 22, 2007: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
All seminars will be held at the ECDC Enterprise Development Group Office in Arlington at 901 S. Highland Street, third floor. Click here for directions.
